Will Arnett shares story of a ‘very famous comedian’ being booted from his podcast for rude behavior within 10 minutes

Will Arnett has made a startling claim regarding a guest who appeared on his SmartLess podcast, though he has chosen not to reveal the person’s name.

Arnett collaborates with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes to host SmartLess, featuring numerous well-known personalities since its inception in 2020.

Recently, Bateman found himself under scrutiny after pressing 33-year-old singer Charli XCX about her plans for children.

During the podcast, Charli XCX remarked, “I actually don’t really want to have kids,” to which Bateman, unaware of her recent marriage, suggested she might change her mind upon meeting the right partner.

Oops.

Moving away from Bateman’s recent slip-up, Arnett conversed with Romesh Ranganathan on his podcast, reflecting on some of the podcast guests they’ve hosted on SmartLess.

Arnett recounted an incident involving a male comedian guest, where he, Hayes, and Bateman decided to cut the interaction short after just 10 minutes.

“We had one other very famous comedian who (I’ll tell you after who) was a f**king rank a**hole recently, and we cut him off after 10 minutes,” Arnett recalled. “We said ‘thanks so much’ and ditched him.”

“You’ll be blown away by who it is,” the Arrested Development actor added, humorously suggesting it was Bill Cosby.

Additionally, Arnett mentioned an instance where a female comedian appeared on the podcast but later requested her episode not be released.

“We had a guest, a comedian, and she asked us not to air her episode. At all,” Arnett explained. “We were like, ‘f**k, it cost us money and the guys, we all had to do it, blah blah blah.'”

She was reportedly concerned about her rising career status, leading to her request for the episode’s withdrawal.

“We were like, ‘You’re good’ and it turns out we were right,” Arnett added, making a pointed remark about the unnamed comedian.

“I won’t tell you until we’re absolutely cut,” Arnett teased Ranganathan, withholding the identity of the guest.

Another SmartLess episode that didn’t go smoothly involved Matthew McConaughey, during which Bateman experienced a ‘meltdown’.

Due to technical issues, Bateman, unaware of McConaughey’s presence on the call, expressed a desire to cancel the podcast, saying he was in a ‘tailspin’.

The Dallas Buyer Club actor erupted with laughter, which only frustrated Bateman further, prompting him to ‘rage quit’ the call.
