Recent Developments in Case of Home Alone Actor Previously Facing Charges

There’s been a development regarding Daniel Stern, who made headlines last year after being charged for soliciting a prostitute.

Daniel Stern is best known for his comedic role as Marv, one of the sticky/wet bandits, in the first two Home Alone films.

Given his cherished role in these films, news of his charge for soliciting a prostitute in Ventura County in December caused quite a reaction.

Though he was not arrested, as per police documents sourced by TMZ, the actor was cited at the scene and subsequently released.

Now, two months later, there has been an update: Stern will not face jail time as the first-time offense charge has been dropped.

A representative from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office provided a short statement to Entertainment Weekly regarding the situation.

The spokesperson stated: “He completed his education class and earned a dismissal. This is our standard disposition for first-time prostitution offenses.”

Stern’s lawyer, Blair Berk, conveyed their satisfaction with this resolution to the California Post.

Berk commented: “The case was dismissed with prejudice as it should have been from the start and we’re very pleased.”

Having stepped away from Hollywood, Stern has reportedly shifted his focus towards his pursuits as an artist and farmer.

While he does make rare appearances on television, the 68-year-old largely stays out of the spotlight, residing on a farm in California where he engages in cattle ranching and fruit cultivation.

Stern has previously explained why he opts out of attending Home Alone anniversary celebrations, despite being a favorite among fans.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Stern admitted: “I don’t leave my farm. It’s no offense to the movie. I’m just … a phone call, Zoom call, I’m in. But… I’m a bit of a homebody.

“I love knowing that everybody loves it, but like, actual people come at me and say, ‘We love it’. It’s a little overwhelming sometimes.”

Though he finds the attention overwhelming, Stern has also mentioned that during filming he recognized the potential of the project.

He noted: “I did know that it was a gem of a movie. It was so funny, it was so true, and so I did know that. I was hopeful that we were making a great movie.

“I had no idea obviously – no one could – of the longevity of its life.”
