Marc Anthony responds to Brooklyn Beckham’s claim about Victoria’s ‘inappropriate’ dance

Marc Anthony has addressed the ongoing Beckham family dispute, insisting that the narrative being presented ‘is hardly the truth’.

Recently, Brooklyn Beckham criticized his well-known parents in a harsh Instagram post, claiming he has ‘been silent for years’ about certain issues.

In the midst of the controversy, Brooklyn mentioned that Anthony witnessed Victoria Beckham ‘dancing’ on his wedding day to Nicola Peltz, which he found ‘inappropriate’.

Brooklyn’s statement included: “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song.”

“In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.

“She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone, I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”

DJ Fat Tony also claimed that Anthony had invited Brooklyn on stage and referred to Victoria as ‘the most beautiful woman in the room’.

During an appearance on This Morning, the DJ stated: “At that point, Brooklyn is devastated because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife.”

“Nicola leaves the room crying her eyes out. Brooklyn is stuck there on stage. Marc says, ‘Put your hands on your mother’s hips!’ It was a Latin thing and that whole situation was awkward for everyone in the room.”

Anthony, who has been a friend to David and Victoria Beckham for many years, shared his perspective with the Hollywood Reporter amid the family tension.

“I have nothing to say about what’s happening with the family. They’re a wonderful, wonderful family. I’ve known them since before the kids were born. I’m godfather to Cruz,” the singer expressed.

“I’m really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s playing out — but [how it’s playing out] is hardly the truth.”

While Victoria has not publicly addressed Brooklyn’s claims, her youngest son, Cruz, appeared amused by liking a parody about her alleged dancing.

Social media personality olly_101 created a video that gained viral attention, where he joked about being a DJ at Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding, pretending to interact with guests.

“And now for the song requested by the mother of the groom for her first dance with her son!” he announced.

As the 90s R&B hit ‘Pony played in the background, Olly feigned horror, referencing Victoria’s dancing.

Sources informed PEOPLE in 2025 that Nicola was ‘in tears’ on her wedding day, seemingly not for joyous reasons.

“Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding,” an insider revealed to the publication. “Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, ‘The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up … Victoria Beckham!'”
