Professional face reader asserts this trait predicts sexual compatibility

An influencer on social media has suggested that there are basic facial indicators that can reveal sexual compatibility, and has produced several videos assessing individuals based on their facial features.

Many people are curious about their compatibility with a partner, not only in terms of personality and social interaction but also in terms of sexual chemistry.

The most straightforward way to determine sexual compatibility might be to engage in sexual activity, but this isn’t an option for everyone.

Lori Bell, a ‘face reader’ and hypnotherapist, suggests there’s an effortless method to assess bedroom compatibility without the need for conversation.

In one of her TikTok videos, Bell explains: “People with very high [sex] drives tend to have a very long or wide lower portion of the face.

“Take a glance around these photos and notice, from the tip of the nose to the tip of the chin how long or wide they are.

“If you’re one of those people that has a long or wide lower portion of the face and thinks they don’t have a high [sex] drive you might just be repressing.”

While some have applauded Bell for her numerous videos on what she can deduce about a person just by observing their face, it’s important to approach this with caution.

The practice of ‘face reading,’ known as physiognomy, has been discredited as a pseudoscience.

University of Chicago Booth School of Business professor, Alexander Todorov, has previously addressed the pseudoscience in an essay, discussing why it can be misleading and potentially harmful.

On the appeal of physiognomy, Todorov says: “I see two reasons for why physiognomy is so appealing. First, it promises an easy solution to a complex problem, which is how to figure out the intentions and capabilities of strangers.

“The second reason the physiognomist’s promise is so appealing is because it agrees with our intuitions. We form impressions quickly, and our impressions often seem to be shared by the people we know.”

He further explains: “Physiognomy is the pseudoscience of reading character from faces, and the main promise is that you can infer people’s personalities from their facial features.

“Physiognomists’ notions are funny and ridiculous, except that their promise is alive and well—primarily because we are all naïve physiognomists, forming instantaneous impressions from faces and acting on them.”
