Valentine’s Day has come and gone, and if you’re tired of all the romance, Prime Video offers a refreshing change of pace.
Starring Avan Jogia and Dove Cameron, both of whom have roots in Nickelodeon and Disney respectively, the eight-episode series centers on a couple, Oliver and Ciara, who cross paths just before the 2020 Coronavirus lockdown in Dublin, Ireland.
The show, titled *56 Days*, is an erotic thriller that weaves through various timelines, revealing the mystery of a death in their apartment. However, the identity of the deceased and the reasons behind it remain a mystery.
We watch as the couple, caught up in the excitement of a new relationship, decide to move in together swiftly as the Covid restrictions tighten around them.
Their seemingly perfect world soon unravels, as the lockdown becomes a breeding ground for hidden secrets.

With no friends, coworkers, or family to witness what unfolds inside the apartment, the relationship grows increasingly suffocating.
You might think you know the person lying next to you in bed—but do you really?
The new series premiered on Prime Video on Wednesday, February 18, with all episodes available for immediate streaming.
Developed by Karyn Usher of *Prison Break* fame and Lisa Zwerling from *Betrayal*, *56 Days* is adapted from Catherine Howard’s 2021 novel of the same name.
Thus far, the series has garnered a tepid response from critics, with a 64 percent average score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 11 reviews.

Despite this, some have praised it as ‘binge-worthy’ and fulfilling.
Karina Adelgaard from Heaven of Horror rated *56 Days* four out of five stars, describing it as ‘a mystery thriller series that was infinitely better than I expected.’
She further notes, “Based on the marketing for this show, I expected something along the lines of *50 Shades of Grey*. However, this is more murder mystery than lots of steamy scenes.”
There remains potential for an increase in the Rotten Tomatoes score as more viewers weigh in following its release.
Matthew Rudoy from Screen Rant awarded it a six out of 10, stating: “As an entertaining thriller that sticks the landing and has enough twists and strong performances to keep things entertaining, *56 Days* is worth binge-watching, despite some of its shortcomings.”
Gavia Baker-Whitelaw from TV Guide adds: “*56 Days* has enough personality to stand out from the crowd and soon makes its mark as a whodunit, circling a pair of suspects whose motives and life choices are intriguingly enigmatic.”
You can stream all eight episodes of *56 Days* right now on Prime Video.
