Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, previously referred to as Prince Andrew, has been taken into custody under suspicion of misconduct while in public office.
This development occurred earlier today (February 19), with BBC News being among the first to cover the story.
The arrest follows a period of intense scrutiny over Andrew’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted pedophile who passed away in a prison cell in August 2019 as he was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking allegations.
Andrew’s relationship with Epstein dates back to 1999. Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers, has alleged that she was coerced into having sexual relations with Andrew in the early 2000s when she was 17 years old.
Andrew has consistently denied engaging in any sexual activity with Giuffre and has expressed remorse for maintaining ties with Epstein.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
