Pulp Fiction and The Mask actor Peter Greene passes away due to accidental gunshot wound, new report reveals

The cause of actor Peter Greene’s death has been disclosed by officials.

It has now been two months since the star of Pulp Fiction was discovered deceased in his apartment in New York City on Friday, December 12.

His death was initially reported following a wellness check at Greene’s residence, prompted by Christmas music that had been playing continuously for several days, according to the incident report.

Confirming Greene’s passing, his manager, Gregg Edwards, provided a statement to NBC News, mentioning that he had conversed with the actor earlier that week.

Edwards paid tribute to Greene by saying: “Nobody played a bad guy better than Peter. But he also had, you know, a gentle side that most people never saw, and a heart as big as gold.”

Several weeks following his death, the New York Chief Medical Examiner’s office announced on Wednesday, February 18, that Greene, aged 60, succumbed to a ‘gunshot wound of left axilla with injury of brachial artery’.

The axilla refers to the armpit area.

The New York Chief Medical Examiner’s office classified the manner of death as an ‘accident’.

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Greene made his acting debut in an episode of the NBC crime drama series Hardball in 1990.

He gained recognition as a character actor, widely known for playing villainous roles. His most notable performance was in the 1994 film The Mask, starring Jim Carrey, where Greene played the antagonist, Dorian Tyrell.

Greene also appeared in Pulp Fiction in 1994 as Zed, a security guard with sadistic traits.

His career later included roles in The Usual Suspects, Training Day, and recurring appearances in TV series like Chicago P.D. and For Life.

Fans remembered Peter Greene last year, with many celebrating his extraordinary ability to portray intricate and unforgettable villains.

One admirer expressed: “He played some of my favorite villains.”

A fan on Reddit reflected: “I still remember him as the villain from The Mask. He was fantastic in that and somehow managed to hold his own opposite Jim Carrey at Peak Carrey. Never could figure out why his career didn’t massively take off.”

Another fan commented on X: “Any time Peter Greene popped up, you just knew he was gonna play the scuzziest villain. Such a memorable character actor.”
