Savannah Guthrie has made her first appearance back at TODAY since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing from her home on January 31.
Guthrie has been a familiar presence on the long-running morning show for more than ten years, and colleagues and viewers have rallied around her following the alarming disappearance of her mom.
Nancy was last seen at her residence in Tucson, Arizona, and authorities believe the 84-year-old may have been taken from the property during the night.
In the weeks since, Guthrie has stepped away from her on-air duties. During NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics last month, she was temporarily replaced by Mary Carillo.
Our hearts go out to Savannah and the entire Guthrie family. They continue to have our full support,”
Molly Solomon, executive producer and president of NBC Olympics Production, said in a statement after Guthrie chose not to travel to Italy.

“We are fortunate to have a deep bench of talented commentators who will step in and fill these roles. Mary is one of the most experienced Olympic commentators ever and a master storyteller,”
She added, per USA Today.
Now, Guthrie has briefly returned to the TODAY studio for the first time in several weeks. The visit was short, and she reportedly stopped in to see coworkers and express her gratitude for the support she has received.
“Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her TODAY colleagues,”
A spokesperson for the program confirmed to PEOPLE.
They also said Guthrie intends to come back on air, though no date has been shared for when viewers can expect her full return.
“She remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home,”
The spokesperson added.
