Britney Spears’ rep shares statement calling out ‘inexcusable’ incident after arrest

Britney Spears’ representative has spoken out after the singer was reportedly arrested in California on suspicion of DUI.

Spears was arrested in Ventura County, California on Wednesday (March 4), before being booked at around 3am early Thursday morning.

Police records list her occupation as “celebrity” and indicate she was arrested on a DUI charge. Under California law, DUI can involve driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

After being taken into custody, Spears was released and is now expected to appear in court on May 4.

A representative for the singer addressed the situation in a statement, calling it “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable”.

“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” they continued. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time”

The representative also mentioned Spears’ two adult sons, Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

They said: “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
