Real estate moguls Alexander brothers convicted on sex trafficking charges

Two high-end real estate brokers and their brother have been found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences following allegations from dozens of women involving trafficking, drink spiking, and assault said to have taken place over many years.

Israeli-American twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander, both 38, built fortunes in luxury property by selling homes to ultra-wealthy clients. Their career included helping broker a record-setting $238 million Central Park penthouse sale in 2019, reported as the biggest residential property deal in US history.

That public success unraveled in June 2024 when 30 women came forward accusing the twins and their older brother Tal Alexander, 39, a security consultant, of offences including drugging and sexually assaulting them.

Several allegations stretched back decades, and the brothers’ behaviour was described by accusers as widely known within parts of the real estate scene. On Monday, the three were convicted on 10 counts, including sex trafficking and sexual exploitation of a minor.

The case also drew attention because the Alexander brothers were mentioned in the Epstein files after a large set of documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein was released under Congress’ Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Sworn witness testimony contained in those files alleged they were present at one of Epstein’s parties where underage girls were in attendance. The brothers were also known to have done real estate business with one of Epstein’s biggest financial backers, property billionaire Leon Black.

During proceedings, their legal team argued that the release had exposed the name of an accuser and asked the judge to declare a mistrial, but the court rejected that request. The Department of Justice later removed the document.

Prosecutors relied heavily on testimony from 11 women who told the court they were drawn into the brothers’ orbit through nightlife settings and dating apps, then enticed with access to upscale venues and lavish trips.

According to their accounts, the women were invited on all-expenses-paid getaways to destinations including the Hamptons, Aspen, and the Caribbean, where they said they were drugged and sexually assaulted.

Alon and Tal Alexander were also convicted in relation to sex trafficking a minor. Oren Alexander faced an additional count of sexually exploiting a minor, with prosecutors showing jurors a video they said he recorded during an assault on a drugged 17-year-old.

After a five-week trial, jurors returned verdicts on all counts within a matter of hours. The convictions carry potential sentences of up to 15 years in prison for each brother.

As the verdicts were delivered, all three reportedly shook their heads, according to NPR and AP coverage. Alon’s wife was described as crying in court and covering her face with her hands.

Sentencing is scheduled for August 6. However, their attorney said the defence intends to challenge the outcome. “We believe in our clients’ innocence and we’re not going to stop fighting until we prevail, and we believe that we will one day prevail,” he told reporters outside court.

US Attorney Jay Clayton, who argued that the brothers used money and influence to evade accountability for years, said in a statement: “The truth is sex trafficking and other federal sex offenses are present in many walks of life and we have not done enough to root it out.”
