Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has pledged to
‘avenge the blood of Iranians’
killed during the ongoing conflict, in his first public remarks since assuming the role.
Khamenei was selected on March 8 to lead Iran following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in a US-Israeli airstrike.
A statement attributed to Khamenei was read on state television today (March 12). In it, he said Iran should continue to use the
‘lever of blocking the Strait of Hormuz’
according to BBC News.
More updates are expected.
