Donald Trump reveals savage nickname for reporter and threatens to sue her

Donald Trump has taken aim at a journalist, assigning her a derogatory nickname and suggesting he may take legal action against her.

Maggie Haberman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, authored the 2022 biography Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.

She was also part of the team awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for coverage concerning Trump advisers and their links to Russia.

Trump used his social media platform, Truth Social, to attack Haberman, accusing her of repeatedly publishing untrue accounts about him.

It’s unclear what triggered the latest post. Haberman’s most recent Trump-related report was published on March 5 and focused on the removal of Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary.

She also appeared on CNN on March 12 to discuss the ongoing war in Iran.

In his post, Trump criticized Haberman and the New York Times, writing:

“Maggot Hagerman, just another SLEAZEBAG writer for The Failing New York Times, insists on writing false stories about me, even though she fully knows and understands that the exact opposite of anything she says is usually the truth.”

He then raised the prospect of adding her to existing litigation, stating:

“In any event, I’m thinking of adding Maggot, and some of her ‘associates,’ into my Florida based Lawsuit against The Times which, very happily, seems to be proceeding nicely.”

Trump has frequently lashed out at media coverage of his administration and has a track record of making personal remarks about journalists, including comments directed at women in the press corps.

One recent exchange involved PBS White House correspondent Liz Landers, who asked why the FBI had seized election records in Arizona.

According to a report in The Independent, Trump responded:

“Well, they probably thought the election was rigged, right?”

As Landers continued and noted that the 2020 election wasn’t rigged, Trump replied:

“How do you know?”

When Landers referenced his attorney general’s conclusion that there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud, Trump said:

“If you say it wasn’t rigged, you’re a rotten reporter.”

In another moment previously reported, Trump addressed Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey by telling her ‘quiet, piggy’.

In November 2025, he also reportedly referred to CBS News journalist Nancy Cordes as ‘a stupid person’, while describing New York Times White House correspondent Katie Rogers as ‘ugly both inside and out’.

More recently, he took a swipe at CNN’s Kaitlan Collins during an Oval Office exchange, accusing her of ‘not smiling enough’.
