Robert Pattinson has a reputation for telling tall tales on the fly — but he’s now started separating fact from fiction after years of letting the rumours roll.
While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Twilight star was put on the spot about some of his most memorable claims from past interviews.
This time, though, he seemed happy to clear things up while promoting his upcoming film with Zendaya, The Drama.
Zendaya even admitted she struggled to tell when he was being serious during their early chats about the project.
“The first time we kind of like hung out when we were preparing for The Drama, that was one of the first things he said to me. He was like, ‘Yeah, I used to be a pathological liar.’ And I was like, ‘Are you being serious or are you lying?’ I can’t tell.”
With that in mind, Kimmel ran him through a rapid-fire review of statements Pattinson has made on the show over the years, asking him to confirm what was real and what was completely made up.

First up was a story about him supposedly living under trash can lids beneath an archway in Venice, California when he was younger. Pattinson said that one wasn’t true — but it did come from somewhere familiar.
“There was an archway in my house,” Pattinson explained in front of the audience. “That was what that was based on, I think.”
Kimmel also brought up the time Pattinson claimed the only “furniture” he had at home was an inflatable raft. It sounds like an obvious joke, but the actor insisted it really happened.
‘100 percent true’
‘two separate houses.’
Another topic was his supposed collection of suits — allegedly numbering around 1,000. Pattinson didn’t fully commit to an exact figure, but suggested the story might not be far off, adding that he remembered trying to offload some online.
‘it could be’
‘trying to sell them on the Real Real.’
He then noted the profits weren’t exactly life-changing.
‘didn’t add up to much.’
When questioned about buying a car from a man on Craigslist, Pattinson clarified the timeline, explaining that the purchase happened before he became a household name through the vampire franchise — not after.
He also confirmed another bizarre detail: that he really did have “extraordinarily heavy saliva,” though he joked that time has helped.
‘extraordinarily heavy saliva’
‘it’s got a little bit lighter’.
Viewers in the comments didn’t seem surprised by his honesty about his habit of making things up in interviews. One person wrote:
“HE is who people should be hyping for an overdue oscar.”
Another added:
“We love a silly goofy dude.”
And someone else said:
“I would randomly lie in interviews too if I was famous.”
Either way, it seems Pattinson is finally letting people in on what really happened — and what absolutely didn’t.
