Robert Pattinson’s career has continued to soar with big leading turns, but one topic never seems to go away: Twilight.
Even with blockbuster success well beyond the vampire franchise, Pattinson’s global recognition is still closely tied to his breakout role as Edward Cullen — the brooding love interest who sparked endless comparisons with Taylor Lautner’s Jacob.
Since the first film landed in 2008, the fandom has largely been defined by its long-running divide: Team Edward versus Team Jacob.
That debate came up again as Pattinson and Zendaya spoke in a new interview while promoting The Drama, an A24 romance featuring the two stars ahead of its April 3 release.

Asked to pick a side, Zendaya didn’t hesitate.
“I’m team Edward, all day,” she said, grinning.
Pattinson, on the other hand, leaned into the joke rather than giving a straightforward answer.
“Am I team Jacob?” he asked. “No one’s team Jacob!”
He then claimed: “That was just a marketing thing.”
Zendaya pushed back, suggesting she knew exactly where he stood.
“We all know where your heart is.”
Then she flipped her answer mid-conversation.
“I was team Jacob,” she added in a sudden change of heart, to which Pattinson exclaimed, “What?” before saying that she was ‘crazy’.

During the same conversation, the pair also touched on how the Twilight audience seems to be surging again.
“I know, it’s weird,” Pattinson said in response.
The two actors appeared together Tuesday night at the Paris premiere for their upcoming film.
In recent months, they also set off a wave of romance speculation after a cozy photo circulated showing Zendaya displaying what looked like an engagement ring — though it was ultimately tied to the movie’s storyline about an engaged couple confronting unsettling truths right before their wedding.
In The Drama, Zendaya plays Emma Harwood and Pattinson plays Charlie Thompson. While their characters are engaged, the actors are not — although they’re expected to share the screen in three different projects this year.
Still, the engagement-style tease had some fans convinced it was a deliberate promotional move, prompting renewed online chatter and some confusion about Zendaya’s real-life relationship with Tom Holland.
Holland is believed to have proposed between Christmas and New Year last year, though the speculation intensified after Zendaya wore a notably large ring at the 2025 Golden Globes in January.
