Pam Bondi has publicly addressed her departure after President Trump removed her from the role of US attorney general, following claims he had become “frustrated” with her performance.
The change was confirmed yesterday (April 2), with Trump saying Bondi is stepping away from government and will turn her attention to the “private sector.”
“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year,” the POTUS penned on social media, announcing Bondi’s departure.
“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.”
He continued: “We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.”

Deputy attorney general Todd Blanche is set to take over, serving as Acting Attorney General for the foreseeable future.
Although Trump’s public comments about Bondi were complimentary, reports have suggested tensions behind the scenes. Sky News cited claims that the president was becoming “frustrated” because she was not moving quickly enough when it came to pursuing prosecutions of his critics and political opponents.
After the announcement, Bondi issued her own statement, saying she plans to support Blanche during the handover and will work “tirelessly” with him over the next four weeks as he transitions into the position.
She also said she is “thrilled” about moving into a new private-sector job.

Bondi went on: “Leading President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history.
“Since February 2025, we have secured the lowest murder rate in 125 years, secured first-ever terrorism convictions against members of Antifa, shattered domestic and transnational gangs across the country, taken custody of more than 90 key cartel figures, and won 24 favorable rulings at the Supreme Court.
“I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again.”
Over the next month I will be working tirelessly to transition the office of Attorney General to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about, and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration.…

Bondi’s removal follows controversy tied to a combative hearing about how the Department of Justice handled material connected to the Epstein files. During that session, Rep. Ted Lieu alleged Bondi had been untruthful while under oath.
At the hearing, Bondi acknowledged that Trump is referenced multiple times in the files, while maintaining the documents do not accuse him of wrongdoing.
Bondi insisted: “There is no evidence that Donald Trump has committed a crime. Everyone knows that. This has been the most transparent presidency.”
“I’m going to put up another document from a witness who called the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center, because I believe you just lied under oath,” Lieu hit back at the time. “There is ample evidence in the Epstein files.”
Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing related to his past connections with Jeffrey Epstein.
