Aubrey Plaza is expecting her first child with her partner Chris Abbott.
According to a source speaking to PEOPLE, the Parks and Recreationactor and Abbott — best known to many for his work on Girls — are getting ready to welcome their first baby together.
They told the outlet: “It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year.”
The source also said the pair “feel very blessed,” and Plaza’s representative has confirmed the pregnancy to PEOPLE.
Abbott, 40, and Plaza, 41, have previously collaborated professionally, including appearing together in the off-Broadway production Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. They also both featured in the 2020 film Black Bear.
The announcement arrives a little over a year after Plaza’s husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, died in January 2025.
Plaza and Baena had separated in September 2024, ahead of his death, after being married for roughly three years.

Plaza previously discussed the loss with her Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler on Poehler’s Good Hang podcast.
“Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning,” Plaza said, “I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m OK, but it’s a daily struggle, obviously.”
At the time, officials said Baena died by suicide at his home in Los Angeles, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Plaza and Abbott first crossed paths while working on Black Bear in 2020.
Abbott has built a career spanning independent cinema and stage work.
He is currently appearing on Broadway in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, alongside Laurie Metcalf and Nathan Lane.
His breakout came on HBO’s Girls, where he portrayed Marnie’s on-again, off-again boyfriend opposite Allison Williams.

Abbott also earned a Golden Globe nomination for playing Captain Yossarian in Hulu’s adaptation of Catch-22.
While much of his work has been in smaller, lower-budget projects, he has also taken on roles in higher-profile films.
Those credits include a supporting part in 2023’s Poor Things, the film that saw Emma Stone win the Academy Award for Best Actress.
He went on to headline a 2025 reboot of Wolf Man, and also appeared in Kraven the Hunter that same year.
