A&E plans to honor Darrell Sheets in upcoming Storage Wars episode after death at 67

Storage Wars producers have shared how they plan to pay tribute to fan favourite Darrell Sheets in a brand-new episode airing this weekend, following news that the reality star has died.

Sheets, 67, was found dead at his home on Wednesday April 22. Reports indicated it appeared to be a single self inflicted gunshot wound.

His death comes as claims continue that he had been subjected to cyberbullying and stalking. Investigators are looking into the circumstances around his death and are examining all potential leads.

After officers attended the property, Sheets was pronounced dead at the scene. The matter was then referred to the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit, which assumed control of the investigation into the apparent suicide.

“The body was ultimately turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation,” the police report stated, adding that Sheets’ family had been notified.

Police have also asked anyone with information that could assist to get in touch, stating: “This incident remains under active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

“Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lake Havasu City Police Department at 928-855-1171.”

Following the announcement of Sheets’ death, A&E — the network behind Storage Wars — issued a statement.

“We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Sheets became a standout figure on the long-running storage auction series, earning a loyal fanbase as one of the show’s best-known bidders hunting for valuables in abandoned units. He was also remembered for his catchphrase, ‘this is the WOW factor!’

He stepped away from Storage Wars during its 15th season, which aired in 2023, more than 13 years after the series first became a global hit.

Known on-screen as ‘The Gambler’, Sheets appeared in 163 episodes before leaving the A&E programme, including episodes where he featured alongside his son Brandon.

To recognise his impact on the show, A&E has confirmed it will include an “In Memoriam” card dedicated to Sheets in this weekend’s episode.

The network is also set to air a multi-hour block of classic Storage Wars episodes featuring Sheets, reports TMZ.

These are expected to highlight some of his biggest on-screen moments, including a haul involving Frank Gutierrez paintings valued at $300,000 and another featuring $17,000 worth of jewellery.
