Melania Trump has issued a scathing statement about Jimmy Kimmel after the TV host made a joke about the latest attempt on Donald Trump’s life.
Donald Trump attended the White House Correspondent’s Dinner on Saturday (April 25) with First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Vance’s pregnant wife, Usha.
The Washington, DC event was disrupted when gunfire erupted near a security checkpoint. Footage from inside the venue appeared to show the president ducking under a table before Secret Service agents moved him out of the room.
Authorities have since identified 31-year-old Cole Allen as a suspect in relation to the incident.
With past threats against Trump having made headlines in recent years, the topic was referenced in a joke delivered by Jimmy Kimmel during Thursday night’s episode of his show—recorded before the shooting at the dinner.

While doing an impression of the first lady at the dinner, Kimmel said: “Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”
Within days, Trump would face another apparent brush with danger—an outcome Kimmel could not have known when the episode was taped.
After the remarks circulated, Melania Trump posted a response on Twitter, criticizing the comedian and his comments.
“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America,” she said in a statement shared today (April 27).
She continued: “People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.

“A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him.
“Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
The dispute also follows a previous incident involving Kimmel’s program, which was briefly pulled last year after he made comments referencing Charlie Kirk and the “MAGA gang,” and the idea of using a death to “score political points.”
The show returned a few days later, after the removal sparked backlash and criticism from parts of the entertainment industry.
