Erika Kirk explains reason why she went to Correspondents Dinner because of ‘dehumanizing’ journalists

Erika Kirk has addressed the White House Correspondents Dinner and explained why she chose to attend on Saturday night (April 25).

Taking place at the Washington Hilton, the annual gathering was nearly thrown into chaos when a gunman reportedly opened fire at the venue in what appeared to be an attempt to target the president and other senior administration figures present.

The dinner is traditionally staged to recognize journalism and is organized by the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA).

Kirk, 37, has been openly critical of the media in recent months, which led some to question why she appeared at an event centered on the press.

In the aftermath, the mother of two has responded to the attention and clarified her reasoning.

\”It was because many of the journalists in that room have attempted to dehumanize me, and I wanted to meet some of them face to face, quite frankly,\” she has now said.
