Strict rules on swingers’ cruise that everyone has to follow

It might be easy to assume that swinger cruises come with no limits and are a complete free-for-all, but operators actually enforce a set of firm rules that every guest is expected to follow at sea.

People who’ve worked on or travelled on these adults-only sailings have shared mixed reactions. Some say there’s plenty of fun to be found onboard, while others criticise certain operators and argue the experience is overly focused on sex.

In practice, themed cruises like those run by Bliss Cruise are marketed as more than just intimacy, offering an adults-only holiday aimed at couples who want a different kind of getaway.

Even with its swinger focus, Bliss Cruise outlines clear expectations for guests on its website, emphasising that passengers still have to stick to ship rules throughout the trip.

The company describes its atmosphere as relaxed, with a “resort casual” or “smart casual” approach to dress. That said, there are boundaries: swimwear, tank tops and T-shirts aren’t allowed in restaurants at dinner, and shorts are limited to the buffet area.

Access is also restricted by age and relationship status. The cruises are primarily for couples aged 21 and over, though there is a limited allowance for some single travellers in specific circumstances.

The Bill Cruise website explains: “The business and production focus of Bliss Cruise is on the niche market of the swinger community. The swinger community consists of couples that are made up as one male and one female looking to interact with other couples of the same configuration.

“Of course, there are always a few single men and women who attend with couples as part of their threesome, which we do allow; however, this is an extremely small percentage that book our cruises.”

Another area where the operator takes a hard line is privacy. Photography rules are strict, with guests told they cannot take photos in clothing-optional spaces, the “Playroom,” workshops, or during theme nights.

For anyone still interested despite the rulebook, Bliss Cruise continues to offer sailings to destinations such as Mexico and the Caribbean, with dates already listed for 2027.

Speaking of their spicy offering, Bliss Cruise says: “The days are often laid-back and playful, while the nights are energetic and full of possibilities. The pace of your trip is at your discretion, you can pursue whatever piques your interest and you can determine the type of experience you desire to create with your partner.”

The company also reiterates that it is a “clothing optional” holiday, saying it’s intended to be an “inclusive and pressure-free” experience for passengers.
