As the summer travel rush approaches, the Transportation Security Administration has announced a new limited-time promotion that takes $20 off the cost of TSA PreCheck for younger travelers.
Running from May 1 through May 31, the deal is available to first-time enrollees under 30. The reduction brings the price down by roughly a third compared with the standard cost of a five-year membership.
To qualify, applicants still need to meet TSA PreCheck eligibility standards and bring the required enrollment documents. Acceptable identification can include a passport, driver’s license, green card, and other approved forms.
The promotion can be used through any of TSA PreCheck’s three authorized enrollment providers. With the discount applied, five-year enrollment costs $59.95 via CLEAR, $56.75 via IDEMIA, and $65 via Telos.
Travelers who want to sign up must begin the process online, then visit an enrollment center in person to complete an interview.

Anyone turning 31 during May needs to submit their application and complete enrollment before their birthday to remain eligible. If enrollment is finalized after turning 31, the discount no longer applies.
Minors can also use the offer, although many families may not need it. Under existing rules, children 17 and under traveling with family members typically don’t have to pay, but kids who frequently fly alone may still benefit from enrolling in TSA PreCheck.
The promotion also can’t be combined with other discounts. So if you qualify for a separate reduced rate—such as one for military spouses—you won’t be able to apply both offers to the same enrollment.

By August 2024, around 20 million people had enrolled in TSA PreCheck, and the agency expects the time-limited price cut to encourage even more younger travelers to sign up.
“As young adults embark on new adventures – whether it’s travel for school, work, or fun – TSA PreCheck offers a quicker and smoother airport security experience,” TSA Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill said in a press release. “With this special discount, we’re empowering the next generation of travelers to make TSA PreCheck a part of their journey.”
TSA PreCheck’s main benefit is a faster security process, with the agency reporting that 99% of members wait less than 10 minutes. Enrolled passengers typically don’t need to remove laptops or liquids from their bags, and can usually keep shoes and belts on during screening.
