Euphoria has long had a reputation for pushing boundaries, but Sunday night’s episode still caught many viewers off guard as Sydney Sweeney appeared in scenes some described as a “humiliation ritual.”
Airing on Sunday May 10, the installment began with Sweeney’s character Cassie catering to her OnlyFans audience by sucking her toes while reciting the ‘This Little Piggy’ nursery rhyme.
The sequence then escalated, with Cassie adopting an over-the-top, Godzilla-style persona. In the surreal moment, she’s depicted crushing buildings with her nipples and causing chaos among Hollywood men who consume her content.
Across multiple clips, Cassie records audio and performs a series of explicit acts in an effort to boost her OnlyFans following. While the storyline may align with the character’s arc, many watching questioned how Sweeney agreed to film such material.
Sharing reactions online, one viewer wrote, “I’m convinced this season of Euphoria is a Sydney Sweeney humiliation ritual.”
Another posted: “Sydney Sweeney humiliation ritual for the first ten minutes.”

A third added, “This has got to be a humiliation ritual for Sydney Sweeney. They had to pay her good for that Godzilla reenactment.”
One more person weighed in: ”They cannot possibly be paying Sydney Sweeney that much money cause wth do they have her doing ..like omg it’s a humiliation ritual every Sunday.”
As season 3 has progressed, Sweeney has frequently been central to the show’s most divisive moments, prompting continued debate over why she would take on scenes seen by some as especially compromising.
One commenter wrote, “Like what the f–k Sydney Sweeney read the Euphoria script and said yesssss I really wanna be in this.”
Another said, “The concept of Sydney Sweeney reading this script and accepting it and then also doing it,” while a third compared the content to explicit adult material, writing: “10 mins in… why is this season just Sydney Sweeney p-rn?”

Even with the criticism surrounding her role, Sweeney has continued to defend her work. In a recent interview with The Independent, she said, “I’m very proud of my work in Euphoria. I thought it was a great performance. But no one talks about it because I got naked.”
She also pointed to what she sees as a double standard for women on screen, explaining that there’s ‘a stigma against actresses who get naked on screen.’ As she put it: “When a guy has a sex scene or shows his body, he still wins awards and gets praise. But the moment a girl does it, it’s completely different.”
