Gordon Ramsay doesn’t need much encouragement to lose his temper, but what turned up in one MasterChef contestant’s plate would have unsettled just about anyone.
The 59-year-old was back on TV for the latest run of MasterChef: Global Gauntlet. In the most recent episode, the competitors were asked to create stadium-style food inspired by their culture and heritage as part of a World Cup-themed challenge. On paper it sounded like a crowd-pleaser, but things quickly took a turn.
As usual, the time pressure was intense. With just 60 minutes to cook and win over the judges, contestant Nora appeared to get overwhelmed — and a serious hygiene issue ended up making it to the pass.
Representing Team Africa, Nora served a haddock and maakouda sandwich with chermoula mayo alongside a Mediterranean salad. But as judge Tiffany Derry examined the dish, she suddenly recoiled after spotting something nobody expects to see in a meal: a bandage embedded in the sandwich.
“Is that a Band-Aid???”
“Oh my Lord!”
Nora immediately apologized, clearly mortified. Ramsay, however, looked close to retching, gagging and coughing as if he might bring his food back up.
To make matters worse, Ramsay was the only judge who had already taken a bite. The bandage itself hadn’t reached anyone’s mouth, but the moment still derailed the tasting entirely.
“We’re eating Band-Aids now, what the f**k is going on?”
Earlier in the episode, Nora had been shown receiving medical help after cutting her finger with a knife while rushing through prep. Later, she told the medic she needed a new Band-Aid because the one she had on had come off — though she clearly hadn’t worked out where it ended up.
The judges then reprimanded Nora as she explained that her first bandage had fallen to the floor. In that earlier moment, the medic could be heard advising her to put on a glove.
Unsurprisingly, Nora was eliminated from the competition — and she didn’t seem shocked by the outcome.
“I served a bandage to Gordon Ramsay, what do I expect? Beyond the bandage, I was not satisfied with how I executed the dish, but I’m still proud of myself,”
Viewers also reacted with disgust in Instagram comments. One wrote: “She’s not sorry ENOUGH!!! My GOD!!”
Another joked: “I would’ve eliminated myself after that. Just walked out!”
