Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been arrested following a complaint reported to police last weekend.
Hobart/Lawrence (Wisconsin) Police Chief Michael Renkas said Jacobs is facing five criminal charges, including “strangulation and suffocation”.
Officers were dispatched to his home at 8.37 am on Saturday after the complaint was made.
Jacobs was taken into custody on Tuesday and booked into the Brown County Jail. The listed charges include: strangulation and suffocation, battery-domestic abuse, criminal damage to property-domestic abuse, disorderly conduct-domestic abuse and intimidation of a victim.
Bond has been set at $1,350.
Renkas said the case is still under investigation and that no additional details would be released at this time.

According to the Brown County Jail’s online records, the strangulation and suffocation allegation is classified as a felony, while the remaining four charges are misdemeanours.
In a joint statement provided to CNN, Jacobs’ attorneys — David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac — responded to the allegations.
“Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public,” they said.
“We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.”
A Packers spokesperson also addressed the situation in a statement to CNN, saying they were “aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs,” and added, “As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said that “We are aware of the report and have been in contact with the club.”

On the football side, Jacobs returns as Green Bay’s top rusher from last season after posting 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
In 2024, he recorded 1,329 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns. He is also the only player currently on the Packers’ roster who reached at least 200 rushing yards for the team last season.
Jacobs is set to play his eighth NFL season and his third year with the Packers, who brought him in as a free agent in 2024.
Selected 24th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, Jacobs is a three-time Pro Bowler. He has totalled 7,803 rushing yards and 74 touchdowns in his career and finished as the NFL’s leading rusher in 2022.
