How I Met Your Mother actor Nick Pasqual sentenced to 32 years to life in prison for stabbing ex-girlfriend

Nick Pasqual has been handed a sentence of 32 years to life in prison after being convicted of attempting to kill his ex-girlfriend.

The How I Met Your Mother actor was found guilty last month on multiple counts, including attempted murder, forcible rape, first-degree residential burglary, and domestic-violence related offences.

According to prosecutors, the attack took place at Allie Shehorn’s home in May 2024, where she sustained more than 20 stab wounds.

Authorities said Pasqual stabbed Shehorn repeatedly before escaping, leaving her severely injured until a friend intervened and helped save her life.

The friend described the scene in an interview with KTLA.

“I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened. That wasn’t a pretty sight. This is not the kind of thing that should happen to anybody. You don’t think this is ever going to happen to you.”

Shehorn, a makeup artist, was taken to hospital with injuries to her neck, arms and abdomen. She remained in critical condition for more than a week before recovering.

During her hospitalisation, Pasqual allegedly tried to leave the US and enter Mexico, but he was stopped and detained near Sierra Blanca, Texas, while attempting to cross the border.

Following the guilty verdict, District Attorney George GascĂłn issued a statement.

“My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident.

“Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her.

“This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions.”
