Tom Hanks Offers Taylor Swift Heartfelt Wedding Advice Ahead of Marriage to Travis Kelce

Tom Hanks has spent nearly four decades married to Rita Wilson, so when the conversation turns to lasting relationships, he is speaking from plenty of experience.

Instead of keeping his wisdom to himself, the Hollywood star recently shared a lighthearted tip for Taylor Swift as speculation around her future with Travis Kelce continues to dominate headlines.

During a red carpet interview, E! News asked Hanks what single piece of advice he would offer Swift if she wants a marriage with similar staying power. His playful answer was: “The man must make the waffles on Sunday.”

The comment came while Hanks was promoting Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 5, where he returns as Woody. Disney and Pixar have scheduled the film to open in theaters on June 19, 2026, with Andrew Stanton directing and Kenna Harris co-directing.

Swift is tied to the film through an original song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which was released on June 5 for the soundtrack rather than as an acting role in the movie itself.

Hanks said he and other members of the cast were largely kept in the dark about Swift’s involvement until the song was ready to drop.

“We were told the day it came out,” Hanks said. “They said, ‘Tonight at nine o’clock, Taylor Swift is going to be dropping the song that ends our movie.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’ve seen the movie and there was no Taylor Swift [song].’ ‘We know.’”

He then laughed about how tightly the production had guarded the surprise, calling the secrecy ‘diabolical’.

“They don’t trust us,” he said. “And there’s a brain trust that goes along that I am not a part of. So I just do what I’m told.”

The song has been described as a return to Swift’s pop-country roots, and early coverage has linked its emotional tone to Jessie, the much-loved cowgirl voiced by Joan Cusack, though Disney and Pixar have not publicly released a detailed official breakdown of the lyrics’ story meaning.

That soundtrack launch has added to what is already shaping up to be a busy June for Swift, who also appeared at the Toy Story 5 world premiere in Los Angeles on June 9.

At the same time, intense attention remains fixed on her relationship with Kelce. Reports in recent days have claimed the couple are set to marry over the July 4 weekend, but no official confirmation has been made by Swift, Kelce or their representatives.

So far, Swift has revealed very little about any wedding arrangements and has kept her private life unusually tightly controlled despite her global fame.

Throughout her career, the singer has become known for planting clues and easter eggs in her work, teasing future albums, songs and tour announcements. But when it comes to major personal milestones, she has typically drawn a firm boundary between public performance and private life.

That has not stopped speculation from escalating, especially after TMZ reported that Madison Square Garden had been booked for a four-day wedding celebration expected to host more than 1,000 guests around July 3 and July 4.

However, the claim remains unverified. More cautious reporting has pointed out that the venue’s public calendar appeared empty for part of that window, but that alone does not confirm a wedding, and other outlets have openly questioned whether the story is credible at all.

Nothing has been officially confirmed publicly, and many fans believe the story may be nothing more than rumor. Others have suggested it could even be a deliberate distraction, allowing Swift to celebrate privately and away from public view.

Until Swift or Kelce address the reports themselves, Hanks’ waffle-making advice may be the closest thing the public has to wedding commentary grounded in something real.
