Facebook is facing a major outage at the moment, with thousands of users reporting difficulties getting onto the platform.
Reports of problems surged on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, with outage-tracking site Downdetector showing more than 11,000 user complaints by around 5:30 p.m. ET. The majority of reports were tied to the Facebook website, while a smaller share of users said they were having trouble logging in.
Users posting online said the disruption appeared to affect desktop access more than mobile in some cases, with some encountering messages stating that their account was temporarily unavailable because of a site issue.
The outage appeared to be widespread rather than isolated to one region. Users in the United States and in several countries overseas also reported issues during the disruption, suggesting the problems were affecting Facebook service more broadly.
Meta, Facebookâs parent company, did not immediately provide a detailed public explanation for the incident. Around the same time, reports indicated that some Meta business tools, including advertising-related services, were also experiencing disruptions.
By later Tuesday evening, user reports had begun to fall back toward normal levels, indicating the issue may have been easing for at least some users.
Large-scale Facebook outages are relatively uncommon, which is why spikes in complaints tend to draw immediate attention whenever users are suddenly unable to access the platform, refresh feeds or sign in as normal.
