Inside the Bizarre Rules Nannies for the Super-Rich Must Follow in Hulu’s New Reality Show

Anyone employed by one of the world’s wealthiest families is likely to face a long list of expectations, and some of them are surprisingly specific.

One thing many ultra-wealthy households tend to have is outside childcare support, whether that comes in the form of a nanny or a manny.

People in those roles are often bound by strict confidentiality agreements, but Hulu and Freeform’s new reality series Million Dollar Nannies offers a rare look at what the job can involve when the parents are extremely rich and the expectations go far beyond simple babysitting.

The show follows a group of ambitious young nannies as they head to Ibiza to launch a high-end agency “built by nannies, for nannies,” serving VIP clients in a world of luxury, social media, and constant pressure. The series premieres on Freeform on Wednesday, June 17, before the full season begins streaming on Hulu on Thursday, June 18.

Among the families featured are the Guiribiteys, whose fortune is said on the show to be around $500 million.

They are introduced first in the series, with prospective hires put through an intense interview led by Camila Guiribitey and her mother, Tatiana.

Camila was searching for two nannies to care for her young daughters during a trip to Ibiza, which is where the show takes place.

The Guiribiteys’ list of expectations was extensive, and one of Camila’s standout requests was that any nanny looking after the children without her present would need to send a welfare update by text every 20 minutes.

Later in the first episode, viewers are introduced to another household: a blended family made up of Daddy Mark, Daddy Tom and Daddy Moke.

The setup is unusual, though they are not a throuple. Mark and Tom were previously married and share twin children, while Moke is now Tom’s husband. Together, all three help raise Coy and Beau.

The children were born via surrogate, with Tom being Coy’s biological father and Mark being Beau’s biological dad.

Their childcare needs also came with a very particular twist: they wanted a nanny, or in this case a manny, who would be able to spray tan them, since their nanny in Los Angeles also supported their “glam”.

Social media is another major part of their family life, so they said any future nanny would need to be comfortable filming content and appearing in it as well.

Episode two of Million Dollar Nannies then introduces Nicola Wills and her daughters. Nicola, a British single mother of two, made it clear that she specifically wanted a female nanny.

That preference formed part of a wider set of requirements for the role, underscoring just how personal and precise the hiring process can be in the world of ultra-rich childcare.

All of Million Dollar Nannies‘ first season will be available to stream on Hulu from Thursday, June 18, with Hulu on Disney+ available for bundle subscribers in the U.S.
