Bunnie Xo has confirmed that she and Jelly Roll still plan to welcome a child together via surrogate, even as they move forward with their divorce.
The update came just days after court records revealed that Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo in Williamson County, Tennessee, after nearly 10 years of marriage. The filing listed May 9, 2026, as the date of separation and cited irreconcilable differences.
Rather than ending their family plans, Bunnie said the couple is still committed to expanding their family, and she addressed the topic during an emotional episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast, titled “The Divorce.”
“I love him and you guys are going to be shocked to hear this, but we’re still having a baby,” Bunnie shared candidly with her listeners. “We’re still having a baby together.”
Over the years, the couple has spoken openly about fertility struggles and their hope to have a child through surrogacy. Bunnie previously said her fallopian tubes were completely blocked, and in her memoir Stripped Down, she wrote that they had connected with what she called the “sweetest surrogate ever.” She also said at one point they were preparing for an IVF embryo transfer and hoping for twins.

Despite the split, Bunnie said the pair are still on the same page about co-parenting and remain close as they navigate the divorce.
“We’re going to co-parent together. Jay is my best friend,” Bunnie explained, using her affectionate nickname for the “Save Me” singer.
“Jay has been so f***ing great about us still having a baby together and he wants the same thing. And we’re just going to raise Little Nugget as one big happy family.”
She also described the divorce as painful but insisted there was no betrayal behind the breakup. According to Bunnie, the separation has been peaceful, and the two still spend hours on the phone together every day.
“So, we have been the most unconventional couple that you guys have ever encountered,” Bunnie laughed. “Nobody cheated on the other person. It’s literally just we served our purpose for each other.”
Bunnie said the timing has made the process even more emotional, as she balances fertility treatment and a fast-moving divorce settlement. Still, she said the journey toward motherhood remains a source of strength.
“I feel so powerful and I feel so inspired to just live life,” she stated. “I’m so excited to live my life through a child’s eyes, which is why this baby journey, I’m not going to let it break me and I’m not going to detour it.”

The former couple, who married in 2016, have long been candid about the unconventional nature of their relationship and the family they built together. Jelly Roll is also father to Bailee Ann and Noah Buddy, both of whom have remained part of the family dynamic Bunnie has spoken warmly about over the years.
For now, Bunnie says the divorce does not change their plan to welcome a child together — only the way they will continue that journey as a family.
“It’s ending with love and we’re continuing the love because we’re having our little nugget together.”
