Mom Speaks Out After Man Is Fired for Calling Police on Dad Who Took Daughters Into Women’s Bathroom

Zoe Lavely, the mother of the two young girls seen in a widely shared social media clip, has now addressed the fallout after their father was challenged for taking them into a restroom.

The incident first gained attention after Tyler Brodsky posted a TikTok showing a confrontation with a man who questioned why he had brought his daughters into the women’s bathroom during a stop at a QuikTrip gas station in Alabama.

Brodsky said he chose that restroom because it was empty and he felt it was the safest, most practical option for his children while traveling.

He said he took them there as it was ’empty’ and he would ‘rather do that than bring two little girls into a men’s bathroom full of grown men and dirty stalls’.

According to Brodsky, the situation escalated while they were still inside, with the man confronting him as he helped the girls wash their hands.

He described how ‘this guy comes barging in yelling, scares my daughters, and somehow thinks THEY should’ve been in the men’s room instead’.

The man also contacted police, though Brodsky later said officers had ‘de-escalated’ the situation and told him he had done nothing wrong.

In a later interview, Brodsky said he had announced himself before entering and emphasized that the bathroom was vacant when he and his daughters went in.

As the clip spread online, Lavely shared her reaction and spoke about how difficult it has been seeing her daughters become the focus of such a public moment.

She made clear that the viral attention has been upsetting for her as a parent.

“I actually don’t love this outcome; as the mother of those two girls,” she wrote on social media.

“Even though their dad handled the situation well, what everyone doesn’t see is the fear a mother has seeing their kids exposed all over the media.

“Over 20 million people have seen my girls. Not just being kids but in distress.”

She added: “Seeing my girls exploited all over the internet has been so heart breaking.”

Lavely also argued that fathers should be able to take their daughters into an appropriate restroom without issue.

The mom went on to say: ” Every girl dad should feel welcomed to take their daughters) in a safe, clean, private bathroom.”

Still, she stressed that although the broader discussion matters, she did not want her children to be placed at the center of it in this way.

“This NEEDS to be a talked about situation,” she wrote, “but it could have been a simple video explaining the situation without my kids faces all over the place. It could have been an audio recording.”

She added: “This has been so overwhelming and so heartbreaking.”

Since the clip circulated, the man involved lost his job after his employer said it no longer associated with him. Overstreet Properties said it was aware of videos circulating online showing a man who worked there as an independent contractor and said the behavior in the clip did not reflect the company’s values.

“Overstreet Properties is aware of videos circulating on social media depicting conduct by a former independent contractor during a personal trip that was unrelated to our company,” the statement said.

“The conduct depicted in the video does not reflect the values of Overstreet Properties or the standards we expect of those who represent our organization.

“Our focus remains on providing quality service to our clients, partners, and community. The individual depicted in the video is no longer associated with Overstreet Properties.”
