Newly surfaced footage from Taylor Parker’s hospital interrogation has exposed disturbing details from the case that were not shown in Netflix’s Maternal Instinct.
The documentary, which arrived on Netflix on June 12, 2026, revisits the 2020 killing of Reagan Simmons-Hancock, who was 21 and eight months pregnant when Parker attacked her, removed her unborn daughter, Braxlynn, and fled with the baby.
Parker, who was 27 at the time of the offense and is now on Texas death row, was sentenced to death in November 2022 after a Bowie County jury convicted her of capital murder. In June 2025, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed her conviction and sentence.
According to trial evidence, Parker had spent months telling people she was pregnant despite having undergone a hysterectomy years earlier. Prosecutors said she also searched for ways to fake a pregnancy, including using prosthetics and documenting the ruse online, before carrying out the attack.
When she arrived at the hospital with the newborn, staff quickly became suspicious that her account of having just given birth did not match her condition or the medical evidence.
Although portions of that exchange appeared in Maternal Instinct, the full recording contains additional moments that did not make it into the documentary.

In the footage, clinicians can be heard challenging Parker’s story, with one pointing out that she ‘should be haemorrhaging right now’ if she had actually delivered a baby.
Tests also reportedly failed to show the placental hormone that would normally be present after childbirth, adding to the concerns of those in the room.
“We know you had a hysterectomy some time back, and you’ve claimed to be pregnant for a while, but that you really weren’t. So we’re trying to figure out where this baby came from,”
Staff then informed Parker that another woman had had her baby cut from her womb, something Parker denied any connection to.
“I don’t know what lady you’re talking about,”
Investigators then confronted her more directly.
“Essentially what we have is we have a dead woman in Texas. And you took a baby out of her, which caused her to die. My question is, is Taylor a cold-blooded murderer? Or is it something else?”

Parker continued to deny responsibility.
“I didn’t kill anybody. I didn’t kill anybody. I wasn’t with her.”
As officers pressed her further, Parker gave her own account of what happened, claiming that both she and Reagan had been holding knives during the confrontation.
“She stabbed me first,”
Parker then alleged that she shoved Reagan, who she said ‘fell with the knife’.
She further claimed the baby simply ‘fell out’ and insisted she had been ‘saving’ the child.
By that stage, investigators were clearly unconvinced by the repeated shifts in her version of events.
Parker remains incarcerated on Texas death row while her case continues through post-conviction review.
