Daveigh Chase, best known for playing Samara in The Ring and voicing Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, died in Los Angeles on June 17 at the age of 35, according to reports from the entertainment press.
Chase also appeared in Donnie Darko, voiced Chihiro in the English-language dub of Spirited Away, and played Rhonda Volmer on HBO’s Big Love.
In the days before her death, reports said Chase had been hospitalized in Los Angeles after struggling with serious health issues. Her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, said at the time that she died from meningitis and a blood infection, though no official public cause of death has been announced by authorities.
Rumors that Chase was still alive have circulated online, but they are false. She was 35.
