Twitch Star ExtraEmily Banned After Shocking Livestream Near-Crash Footage

ExtraEmily has been suspended by Twitch after an IRL broadcast showed her narrowly avoiding a crash while driving.

The streamer, whose real name is Emily Xuechun Zhang, has built an audience of more than 978,000 followers on Twitch. Her channel is now temporarily unable to go live following the latest incident.

The action against her account came after footage from a recent stream circulated online, showing her behind the wheel as she appeared to check messages from viewers.

According to clips shared from the broadcast, the incident happened on June 28, 2026, while Emily was making a turn and looking away from the road. A vehicle coming from the opposite direction appeared to be approaching the intersection at the same time, creating a near miss.

“Oh, sorry,” she says while putting her hand up to the other driver to apologize. “That was my bad. I gotta’ check my ugh… oopsies.”

After the moment passed, she downplayed what happened and suggested she was fortunate the other motorist had sounded their horn.

“I had autopilot on and I literally took it off and that’s when that happened bro,” Emily adds.

The stream was quickly reposted on social media, including Twitter, where users criticized the behavior and called on Twitch to respond.

Tagging Twitch, somebody said: “Hi @TwitchSupport @Twitch I am really tempted to attempt illegally streaming while driving after seeing this behavior be encouraged by your platform.

“Thank you for condoning this activity, having a big company platforming this proves to me that it is just harmless fun.”

Another wrote: “@Twitch, so others get permabanned for reading chat, but @extraemilyy can almost cause an accident and nothing?”

A further response said: “I think streaming while driving should not be allowed. It’s distracted driving, and puts everyone on the road at risk. This is just inconsiderate and dangerous, plain and simple. Streaming can wait.”

Twitch has now taken action, and Emily’s profile currently shows that she is unable to stream.

Visitors to her channel are met with the message: “This channel cannot stream at this time due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines.”

The exact length of the suspension has not been confirmed. Twitch says streaming suspensions are temporary and can last anywhere from 24 hours to 30 days.

Its guidance states: “A streaming suspension is issued when a violation occurs on stream or in a VOD/clip. If your account is suspended from streaming, you will not be able to access certain features related to streaming, including going live, creating Stories, participating in Stream Together sessions, or uploading VODs. Streaming suspensions are temporary and will last between 24 hours to 30 days.”

The incident has also brought renewed attention to Twitch’s policy on distracted driving, which prohibits operating a vehicle in a way that removes a streamer’s eyes from the road or hands from controlling the vehicle while interacting with chat or streaming equipment.

This is not the first time ExtraEmily has faced a ban on the platform. She was also suspended in April 2025 after another driving-related IRL stream.

During that earlier broadcast, she ran a red light intentionally and used her phone to look at chat while driving.

Representatives for Twitch and ExtraEmily have been contacted for comment.
