Hilary Duff Breaks Silence After Fan Suddenly Lifts Her Onstage, Sparking Security Fears

Hilary Duff has responded after a fan’s overenthusiastic on-stage hug during a recent Lucky Me Tour stop in Texas briefly prompted concern from security.

The singer and actor is currently back on the road for her first full-scale headline tour in nearly two decades, and one part of the show invites selected fans onstage while she performs With Love. The moment is meant to be playful and nostalgic, but it also depends on everyone keeping their hands to themselves.

During the June 30 show at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas, one fan dressed as Duff’s Casper Meets Wendy character appeared to get a little more carried away than expected, lifting the star off her feet and spinning her around in front of the crowd.

Duff laughed along as the audience cheered, but security could be seen moving in the background as the moment unfolded.

As clips of the encounter spread online, the fan later addressed it in a TikTok video after viewers flooded the comments with reactions.

One comment said: “omg this is amazing. Scary at first but Hillary took it in her stride. You see the security guard come out from behind the curtain.”

Karson, who posts under the TikTok name @thakarlotus, said sorry for causing concern among Duff’s security team and added that there had been no intention to create any kind of danger.

“I got really, really excited, and to tell you the truth, in a lot of that moment I blacked out,” Karson continued.

Karson also expressed gratitude toward Duff afterward, and the star herself ended up replying in the comments.

“I loved my big swing around hug! Don’t think twice!” she exclaimed.

An excited Karson responded: “OMG!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!!! Hahahah ILYSM!!!”

So despite the brief concern from both security and viewers online, Duff made it clear there were no hard feelings. The moment also appears to have done little to discourage the fan-participation section of the show, which has become one of the most talked-about parts of the tour.

The 38-year-old is set to continue the Lucky Me Tour in California before heading to the United Kingdom in September, where she has dates scheduled in London later in the month.

For anyone hoping to be invited onstage, a little enthusiasm seems welcome. Just maybe not quite that much.
