Ariana Grande did not seem impressed by an AI-made track designed to imitate her voice while fans count down to the arrival of her next album.
The Wicked actor is preparing to release her eighth studio album, Petal, on 31 July. Excitement around the project has been building since lead single ‘Hate That I Made You Love Me’ dropped at the end of May and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Grande recently gave fans another taste of the record, sharing two official snippets from the album on Instagram: ‘oh well,’ from track five, and ‘freak,’ from track seven.
At the same time, some listeners had been circulating AI-generated clips made to sound like Grande, imagining what unreleased songs from Petal might be like.
Once those clips reached Grande, she responded by sharing two genuine previews from the album instead.

The first teaser came from track five, ‘oh well.’
“Good things can replace dysfunction, obsession/ Thanks but I’ll see you right out/ Good luck on your way to hell/ Oh, well.”
The second preview was taken from track seven, ‘freak.’
“Someday all the seeds will open/ All of the human life I’ve dreamt of/ Will be real if I start over/ How will it feel?”
On Instagram, a fan account called ariananators.wildin reacted excitedly to the official snippets and made reference to the AI-made version in the comments.
“Thank God she gave us two real snippets…”
Grande then weighed in herself, making it clear how she felt about the fake clip. She appeared to find the situation entertaining, replying with:
“cryyyyyyyyyinh”
and
“hell”
The comments suggested she was not taking the AI imitation seriously, and that her own preview was the answer to it.

The new album rollout has already given fans plenty to talk about. Petal is expected to arrive with 13 tracks, including songs such as ‘oh well’ and ‘freak,’ and Grande has been teasing the project for months with studio clips, cover art and brief vocal previews.
This is not the first time Grande has answered fans with a sharp sense of humour. She also drew attention recently after leaving up an accidental revealing photo on Instagram.
In the image, she crouches down to pet a dog, and the top of her dress falls forward, exposing one breast. Rather than deleting the post after followers noticed, she leaned into the moment by reposting a skit with her former Victorious co-star Elizabeth Gillies.
Back in 2023, the pair recreated a scene from the 1995 film Showgirls during a lunch-table sketch. In it, Gillies tells Grande:
“You have great tits, they’re really beautiful,”
and Grande replies:
“Thank you.”
