Tyler Hubbard’s family camping break took an unexpected turn when a fishing hook ended up stuck in his scalp during the trip.
The 39-year-old country star stepped away from his packed summer touring schedule for a four-day Airstream getaway with his wife, Hayley, and their three children, Olivia, 8, Luca, 6, and Atlas, 5.
What started as a simple morning outside quickly became a painful mishap that required some on-the-spot help.
In an Instagram video captioned “Breakfast had to wait…”, Hayley explained that she was in the middle of preparing food when Tyler called her over.
“Mid cooking breakfast while camping I hear, ‘Babe, can you come here when you get a sec?’”
When she looked closer, she found a silver fish hook, attached to a yellow lure and two red beads, firmly embedded in his head.
As Hayley tried to figure out how to remove it, the couple’s children could be heard nearby offering a mix of concern and encouragement.
“Is it bleeding mom?”
“Dad, just don’t think about it, mom’s just going to pull it right away.”
Hayley then asked whether there were any known “tricks” for getting out a lodged hook, and Tyler admitted the injury was painful.
“kinda”
“so bad.”
Keeping things calm, Hayley reassured him as she grabbed a pair of pliers and carefully pulled the barb free in one quick motion.
“you’re doing great, you’re so brave”
“Oh, we got it!”
Afterward, Hayley posted a broader recap of the family’s river adventure and laughed off the incident while reflecting on the trip.
“All the memories made were worth the schlepping and loading up and unpacking and fun that comes along with camping,”
“Next time we’ll try to avoid fish hooks in the head.”
The camping drama came during a busy stretch for Hubbard, who has been balancing solo touring with renewed interest in a Florida Georgia Line reunion after he and Brian Kelley reunited onstage at CMA Fest in Nashville earlier this summer. Hubbard has since said he and Kelley have been talking about putting some shows together in 2027.
