French DJ and electronic music artist Vincent Belorgey, known professionally as Kavinsky, has died at the age of 50.
Belorgey was widely recognized for his song Nightcall, which featured over the opening credits of the film Drive.
He also performed during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he appeared with Belgian singer Angèle.
According to reports, the Paris prosecutor’s office said Belorgey was found dead at his home on Tuesday evening. An investigation into the cause of death has been opened, but first responders did not regard the death as suspicious.
Belorgey’s atmospheric, synth-driven sound helped make Kavinsky one of the best-known names in French electronic music, with Nightcall becoming his signature track and a lasting pop culture touchstone after its use in Drive.
