At 180 House in London, Gerber arrived in the plunging sheer black ensemble in her role as Susan Reynolds in the Bret Easton Ellis adaptation.

The dress was Look 61 from Fendi’s Fall 2026 Couture Collection, marking Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut for the House, and featured vertical cascades of delicate ruffles trimming the plunging V-neckline.

The transparency was nearly total.

Gerber wore a pair of black Intimissimi Brazilian Panties in Seamless Ultra Light Microfiber ($18) under the couture gown.

The translucent design is lined with cascading, fluid-like ruffles that add movement and help to conceal parts of the body, with the dress descending into multiple long, thin shreds that flutter with each step.

Fashion critics had mixed takes.

Seeing the Intimissimi Brazilian briefs isn’t necessarily what fashion fans expect from a red carpet look, though the point will undoubtedly divide opinion.

One outlet noted “The sheerness honestly doesn’t bother me. I’m far more enamoured with the ruffles and the softly styled updo. But I will admit that it’s giving expensive negligee.”

Not everyone was troubled.

At the London screening for Ryan Murphy’s psychological thriller, Gerber offered an interpretation of the horror genre in the sheer Fendi dress that originally took on a more romantic tone, with cascading ruffles adding movement to help conceal parts of the body.

For her red carpet appearance, Gerber deviated from the regal gold choker seen on the runway in favor of darker jewelry from Jessica McCormack, including diamond earrings and a ring set in blackened white gold.

This was her second premiere look for the series.

Following her New York press tour, which gave us four press-junket looks and a stunning premiere gown, Kaia Gerber was in London on Thursday night for the premiere of The Shards.

At the New York City premiere on July 27, the 24-year-old stepped out in a Valentino gown that played with exposure through bejewelled embellishments.

That dress turned heads too.

Lined with intricate beads that shimmered as she walked, the dress created an artful sheer effect with a silver lattice pattern, which added structure and Art Deco opulence to the dress’s slinky translucence.

She finished the look with a lavender fringe bag, chrome open-toed heels, and her hair in a side-parted blowout.

The New York premiere gown was designed for impact.

The completely sheer design featured a geometric lattice of silver embellishments over nude illusion fabric, creating the effect of crystals suspended across her body, with two ultra-thin spaghetti straps held the dress up.

Stylist Emma Jade Morrison curated the actress’ shimmering look for “The Shards” premiere.

Gerber is leaning into the show’s aesthetic.

Kaia Gerber has a book club called Library Science and says Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote ‘The Shards’, is a favorite.

FX’s “The Shards” is a series adaptation of the bestselling thriller by Bret Easton Ellis that follows a group of teenagers coming of age in mysterious 1981 Los Angeles while a serial killer wreaks havoc throughout the city.

Her costar lineup carries major weight.

Gerber plays Susan Reynolds in the new series from Ryan Murphy, which is set in 1981 at an elite prep school in Los Angeles, alongside Debbie Schaffer (Hayes Warner) and Thom Wright (Graham Campbell), a glamorous and deeply entangled group drawn into a life of wealth, beauty, parties and excess.

Gerber isn’t the only nepo baby in The Shards cast, with Richard Gere’s son Homer Gere starring as the magnetic Howard Mallory in the series.

That connection is unique.

Gerber and Gere share a unique connection — their parents were married for several years in the early 1990s, but the pair had never crossed paths before filming The Shards.

Homer Gere says it was “really funny” to working with Kaia Gerber on The Shards following their parents Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford’s divorce.

Gerber has built her reputation as a red-carpet maven.

The 24-year-old daughter of Cindy Crawford stars in FX’s adaptation of American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis’ 2023 novel of the same name.
Like her supermodel mother before her, she brings careful attention to how she presents herself at major fashion moments.

In the viral moment that drove reactions online, her sheer Fendi dress exposed her undergarments to the entire red carpet at the London screening on July 30. The silhouette, drawn from Fendi’s Fall 2026 Couture collection in its high-fashion debut for designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, was bold theatrical wear—ruffled and flowing, designed to evoke the knife-wielding chaos at the heart of the show. Critics divided over whether the visible black briefs were a fashion win or overreach, but Gerber’s stylist had chosen the Intimissimi panties deliberately to coordinate with the all-black palette and diamond jewelry from Jessica McCormack. Two nights of premieres, two sheer gowns, two different statements: first the beaded sparkle of Valentino’s geometric grid, then Fendi’s sculptural darkness. The message was clear—this actress wasn’t shying away from skin-baring as her calling card.

The show will have 10 episodes total, and is set to premiere on FX and Hulu on August 5.
