The MMA world is grieving after the sudden death of UFC flyweight Allan Nascimento, who died at the age of 34.
The Brazilian competitor, widely known as “Puro Osso” (Pure Bone), died following a suspected heart attack. According to the UFC, Nascimento was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep Monday morning, August 4, and was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by responding medical personnel to revive him.
Nascimento was an important member of the respected Chute Boxe Diego Lima team in São Paulo, where he trained with elite names such as former UFC lightweight titleholder Charles Oliveira.
He was admired for his high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ability, as well as the toughness and determination he brought into every fight, earning widespread recognition well before stepping onto the UFC stage. Nascimento began his professional MMA career in 2011 and had compiled a 22-7 record across his time competing on the regional scene and in the UFC.
After news of his death emerged, tributes quickly began pouring in from coaches, teammates, and fighters who shared their memories online.
“Today we lost a brother, a warrior, and an incredible human being,” his longtime head coach Diego Lima shared in a heartfelt post.
“Allan was the heart and soul of our team. His dedication, kindness, and passion for martial arts inspired everyone around him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this unimaginable time.”
A native of São Paulo, Nascimento established himself on the regional scene as one of the most dangerous submission specialists before eventually reaching the sport’s biggest platform. After joining the UFC in 2021, he competed in six fights in the Octagon with a 4-2 record, with both of his UFC losses coming by split decision.
His professional accomplishments included notable victories over fighters such as Jake Hadley and Carlos Hernandez. His last fight came in June at UFC Fight Night, where he suffered a split-decision loss to Mitch Raposo.
Outside competition, those who knew him often described him as generous and grounded, someone who devoted significant time to guiding younger teammates and helping them improve their skills in training.
“Allan was one of the most genuine guys in the sport,” one fellow UFC fighter posted on X.
“Always smiling, always ready to help his teammates, and an absolute nightmare to grapple with. Devastating news for the entire MMA family.”
The UFC also issued a statement expressing sympathy to Nascimento’s loved ones, friends, and training partners as they deal with the loss.
As tributes continue to be shared by fans and fighters around the world, Nascimento is being remembered as a committed martial artist, a cherished teammate, and a fierce competitor whose impact extended far beyond the cage.
