Paris Jackson appeared on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on August 12
, discussing her unconventional first meeting with her mother Debbie Rowe at age 15.
The 28-year-old spoke with host Alex Cooper about her journey with sobriety, the relationships that have shaped her, and ending her engagement.
When describing the pivotal moment she first met her mom,
Paris Jackson recalled: “I remember coming downstairs and she was in the living room with my grandma. I came in and I was just like, ‘Hey, Mom.'”
Jackson confirmed host Alex Cooper’s question that she did “right away” refer to Rowe, 67, as mom.
The moment was notably casual.
Paris recalled, “I sat down, we talked for a second and then we went out for the day and just, like, hung out.”
As for their connection, Paris explained, “She’s a [Sagittarius], so she’s got the fire. And I’m an Aries, so I’ve got the fire. We’re very similar.”
Paris described her approach to relationships.
The model clarified that she has learned how “expectations [can] f–k us up,” so she walked into that relationship — and others in her life — without them.
That philosophy extends deeper.
Paris said, “When I walk into something and I don’t have expectations, it creates this really cool space for something organic to just blossom.”
She added that her mindset in this area has become “more refined” over the years.
Paris’ inner approach has shifted as she’s matured, allowing her to navigate relationships with greater ease.
The pair made headlines earlier this year sharing rare photos together on social media.
Jackson shared some mother-daughter pics on Instagram Stories.
Michael and Debbie were married from 1996-1999, welcoming Prince Jackson in 1997 and Paris in 1998. After Michael and Debbie divorced, Rowe gave up custody of the children.
During the podcast, Paris also opened up about her childhood at Neverland for the first time on the show.
Paris clarified during her appearance on the Aug. 12 episode of Call Her Daddy: “I didn’t grow up there. It was only the first few years of my life that I was there.”
She revealed why the Jackson children wore masks in public.
Paris recalled, “It just it made sense, because it was like, ‘Oh yeah, if you do this now, then you can go to Chuck-E-Cheese and be normal this weekend because no one will know who you are.’ Like that made sense to me.”
The household had strict rules.
The actress noted they were not allowed to watch TV except on weekends after doing chores and homework.
Paris spoke fondly of her late father.
She called her late father, who died in 2009 at 50, a “really funny guy,” referring to herself as the Grammy winner’s “little princess.”
In the viral moment that led to this interview, Paris has previously explained the extent of her isolation during childhood.
After Michael Jackson died in 2009, Paris reconnected with Debbie as a teen.
Jackson had minimal contact with her mother until she was 15 in 2013 and has since stayed close with her.
Paris—with Katherine’s support— reconnected with Rowe when she was 15 and has held her close ever since.
The relationship deepened over time.
Paris explained: “It’s cool, like, getting to know her, seeing how similar we are. Getting into what kind of music she likes — she really likes country and folk — I send her some of the stuff I’m working on… We look a lot alike.”
“It’s just cool having her as a friend. It’s very chill, which I love, that’s the perfect word to describe it,” she added.
Paris, 28, has acknowledged that, since she spent so many years without Rowe, she never considered her mother’s renewed presence in her life to be “a ‘mommy’ thing,” explaining, “It’s more of an adult relationship.”
The two maintain close contact.
