More than three decades after forming in a San Diego suburb, the members of Blink-182 have scattered into lives that few fans could have predicted.
Mark Hoppus, 53, Tom DeLonge, 49, and Travis Barker, 49, are performing together again after DeLonge’s 2022 return, but the musicians who filled their roles at various points have taken paths far removed from arenas and festival stages. The most striking departure belongs to Scott Raynor, the band’s original drummer, who traded his drumsticks for a police badge and joined the San Diego Police Department in 2023.
Hoppus remains the only member to appear on every Blink-182 album since the band’s 1992 formation. After the group’s 2005 hiatus, he formed +44 with Barker and later launched Simple Creatures with All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth in 2019. He also established the lifestyle brand HiMyNameIsMark, hosts the Apple Music show After School Radio, and released his memoir Fahrenheit-182 in April 2025. The book details his childhood, the band’s rise, and his 2021 cancer diagnosis.
Hoppus was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in April 2021 and accidentally revealed his condition on Instagram that June when he posted a photo from a chemotherapy chair. After five months of treatment, he was declared cancer-free in September 2021. He returned to performing with Barker in November 2021 and helped steer Blink-182 into its current reunion era.
DeLonge’s journey back to the band was equally dramatic. After leaving Blink-182 in 2015, he poured his energy into To the Stars, the science fiction company he founded that develops films, books, comics and television shows. He also executive produced the 2019 History Channel series Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation, which explored unexplained aerial phenomena alongside former CIA and Department of Defense officials.
In 2021, DeLonge reconnected with Hoppus after reaching out about divorce paperwork and learned of his former bandmate’s cancer diagnosis.
“We’ve been able to completely repair that friendship,” he later told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe.
DeLonge returned to Blink-182 in 2022, replacing Matt Skiba, who had joined the band in 2015. The reunited trio released One More Time… In 2023 and toured globally from 2023 to 2025.
Barker has built the most publicly visible life outside the band. He married reality television star Kourtney Kardashian in 2022 after previous marriages to Melissa Kennedy and Shanna Moakler, and the couple welcomed their son Rocky in 2023. He founded the clothing line Famous Stars and Straps in 1999, established DTA Records in 2019, and launched Barker Wellness, a vegan wellness company, in 2021. He released his solo album Give the Drummer Some in 2011.
After surviving a 2008 plane crash that killed four people and left him with third-degree burns on more than half of his body, Barker flew again in 2021. He discussed the experience and its aftermath in the documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear.
Raynor, who played on Blink-182’s first two albums Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch, left the band in 1998. He later performed with One Track Mind, Grimbly and The Wraith before his 2023 move into law enforcement with the San Diego Police Department.
Skiba, 48, balanced duties in Blink-182 and his longtime band Alkaline Trio from 2015 to 2022. He appeared on Blink-182’s California and Nine, and later released Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs with Alkaline Trio in 2024. When DeLonge returned, Skiba said he was “genuinely glad” the original trio were a family again.
In the viral moment that defined the band’s fractured history, DeLonge first quit Blink-182 in 2005 after tensions over touring and creative direction boiled over, leaving Hoppus devastated. The guitarist formed Angels & Airwaves while Hoppus and Barker created +44. The trio reunited in 2009 following Barker’s near-fatal plane crash, releasing Neighborhoods in 2011, but DeLonge departed again in 2015 amid fresh conflicts. Hoppus revealed in his 2025 memoir that the initial 2005 breakup triggered a deep depression and suicidal thoughts, writing that he “lost everything” and “started finding comfort in the thought of suicide” before seeking psychiatric help and medication.
DeLonge paid tribute to Skiba on Instagram when the reunion was announced, writing that it was “important for the world to know that I honor him” and thanking him for keeping “the band alive and thriving in my absence.”
Blink-182 is scheduled to continue touring internationally with dates extending through 2025.
