Tom Holland, 30, is reportedly in line for a nine-figure payday from Spider-Man: Brand New Day after the film crossed $2 billion at the global box office.
The British actor received a base salary of at least $20 million for his fourth solo outing as the web-slinger, according to The Wrap, but backend bonuses tied to the film’s massive commercial performance are expected to push his total earnings well past the $100 million mark. A source speaking to the outlet claimed there is no cap on what Holland could ultimately collect from the movie’s box office receipts.

Holland’s financial trajectory in the MCU has been steep from the start. His first appearance as Peter Parker came in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, for which he was reportedly paid $250,000. That figure doubled to $500,000 for his first solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, in 2017. By 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, his reported salary had jumped to $4 million, then climbed to $10 million for 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
That previous installment grossed nearly $2 billion worldwide, establishing a benchmark that Brand New Day has already surpassed. The new film, which opened July 31, became the fastest movie ever to reach $700 million domestically and crossed the $2 billion threshold globally in just three weeks, making it Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing release of all time.

Holland’s wife and on-screen love interest Zendaya, 29, has publicly praised his commitment to the role. Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, she said Holland “really loves and cares so much about the character and what the character means to other people,” adding that “when you are in front of these kids, you are Spider-Man.”
“My favorite thing about Tom’s Spider-Man is how Tom handles Spider-Man outside of Spider-Man,” she continued. “So many people connect to this character, to Peter Parker’s Spider-Man. And especially young people, especially children, and I think that he’s just handled that weight with such grace.”

The summer has been extraordinarily lucrative for Holland even beyond Spider-Man. He also starred in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which has grossed nearly $1.3 billion worldwide, meaning he appears in the two highest-grossing films of 2026 so far. The Odyssey, in which he plays Telemachus opposite Zendaya, became Nolan’s highest-grossing title ever after adding $98.2 million overseas in its fifth weekend, including $36.6 million from its China debut.
Holland’s reported backend deal for Brand New Day has drawn comparisons to Robert Downey Jr.’s lucrative arrangement as Tony Stark, which saw the Iron Man star earn $50 million for 2013’s Iron Man 3 from a combination of $10 million in base salary and box office bonuses. Industry observers have noted that Holland’s earnings trajectory mirrors that pattern of exponential growth tied to franchise success.
The film’s plot finds Peter Parker grappling with the aftermath of a Doctor Strange spell that erased all memory of his civilian identity from the world, including from those closest to him. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie also stars Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo returning as Bruce Banner. Industry estimates suggest Zendaya earned around $8 million for her return as MJ, while Ruffalo reportedly received between $8 million and $12 million.
Holland’s original six-movie deal with Sony concluded after No Way Home, and his return for Brand New Day required fresh negotiations handled by WME agents Andrew Dunlap, James Farrell, and Liam Buckley alongside his attorney Robert Offer. The new agreement appears to have positioned him among the highest-paid actors in contemporary blockbuster filmmaking.
With minimal competition remaining in the summer box office season, analysts have speculated that Brand New Day could become the first film to reach $1 billion domestically and potentially challenge the $3 billion global mark set by Avatar and Avengers: Endgame.
