Prince Harry had a blunt reaction to Meghan Markle’s Suits sex scenes

Prince Harry once admitted that watching his future wife’s on-screen sex scenes was a “mistake.”

The Duke of Sussex, 41, penned the confession in his 2023 memoir Spare, revealing that he had searched for Meghan Markle online around the time they began dating in 2016. At that point, the Duchess of Sussex, 45, was starring as paralegal Rachel Zane on the American legal drama Suits, a role she had played since 2011. Harry wrote that he made the “mistake of Googling and watching some of her love scenes online.”

“I’d witnessed her and a castmate mauling each other in some sort of office or conference room,” he wrote in the memoir.

“I didn’t need to see such things live.”

The scene that left Harry miserable came in the season two finale, when Rachel and her love interest Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams, hooked up in a file room at their law firm. Reports said that Harry was left “miserable” after watching the footage. Meghan’s final appearance on the show came in the season seven finale, when Rachel married Mike.

Meghan quit acting shortly after her engagement to Harry was announced in November 2017. “For me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, ‘I have ticked this box and I feel really proud of the work we’ve done there, and now, it’s time to work as a team with [Harry]’,” she explained to the BBC at the time.

She added to Vanity Fair in 2022: “I left Suits right after the 100th episode, in 2018. I didn’t think I’d ever be in the entertainment industry again.”

But the Duchess is now set to return to screen work, playing herself in the Amazon MGM Studios comedy Close Personal Friends, which began filming in 2025. The Jason Orley-directed film also stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding. Meghan told the outlet about the shifting landscape: “But the entire culture has changed; streamers have changed things. The ability to create zeitgeist moments like we had in the ’90s — where everyone would tune in at the same time for a show or gather for one moment? — that doesn’t happen anymore.”

In the viral moment that preceded Harry’s confession, the then-future Duke had been curious about the American actress he had just started seeing. Their romance began in mid-2016, and Harry’s Google search led him directly to footage of Meghan’s most intimate Suits scenes. The discovery prompted his blunt assessment in Spare that he had erred by seeking out the clips. The couple married at Windsor Castle in May 2018 and welcomed two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, before stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to Montecito, California.

The couple have been the subject of renewed speculation about a potential return to the UK, with reports suggesting they may be considering a permanent move back. Harry said in 2025 after losing his Court of Appeal challenge over downgraded security arrangements: “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done. I miss the UK, I miss parts of the UK. Of course I do.”
