Mom and 2-Year-Old Daughter Killed by Lightning as Devastated Husband Saw the Whole Thing

Kam Glasgow watched lightning kill his wife and 2-year-old daughter in a Florida sidewalk tragedy.

Kenya Glasgow, 31, and her twin daughter Kennedi were struck by a bolt of lightning around 2:30 p.m. Sunday on a sidewalk in Margate, Florida, according to the Margate Police Department. First responders rushed to the scene and immediately began treating the victims and performing CPR. They were taken to separate hospitals, where both mother and daughter were declared dead soon afterward.

“I saw the whole thing,” Kam Glasgow told The Post through sobs on Monday, the morning after losing his wife and one of his children.

“A bolt of lightning came down, I got hit with the residuals from the ground and I looked over and that’s when I saw them,” the shattered dad added.

Kam also turned to Facebook to process the unthinkable loss. “S–t can’t be real,” he wrote of what he called the “1 In 1.2 million” freak accident.

Kam said that Kenya had been the “love of my life” since they were 16 and 17 years old. They had been together 15 years and tied the knot four years ago. They have two twin girls together, Kennedi, who died, and Kensli.

Now, Kam said that he and Kensli “have to pick up the pieces and lean on our village.”

Since Sunday afternoon, he and his surviving daughter have been feeding off “support from our large family and a vast amount of friends who are still, technically family.”

Kam described his late wife as the “most amazing spirit in this world.”

“My wife had the biggest heart in the world. And only cared about everybody else and never cared about herself. She put everybody before herself. Everybody showed up for everyone. Without hesitation,” he said.

In the viral moment that has drawn national attention, a routine Sunday afternoon walk turned fatal when lightning struck a mother and her toddler on a suburban Florida sidewalk. The incident marked a rare and devastating case of a direct lightning strike in a residential area, with the father surviving only to witness the immediate aftermath. Margate Police said the incident remains under investigation.

Kam Glasgow and his surviving daughter Kensli will continue relying on family and friends as they face life without Kenya and Kennedi.
