San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York cut a plea deal just one day after his arrest in an Ohio prostitution sting.
York, 46, was taken into custody at 9:35 a.m. Sunday at Wheat Hill MHP, a trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio, after responding to an advertisement on a known prostitution website and arranging to pay $140 for sexual activity, according to Columbiana County court documents. The sting was orchestrated by an agent from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
York had driven to the meeting believing he was rendezvousing with a sex worker, but was instead intercepted by law enforcement. He was found with his cellular device, which had been used to arrange the criminal act, the documents stated.
The trailer park later pushed back on social media about its role in the arrest. Wheat Hill MHP claimed on Facebook that York was arrested there because that is where he was pulled over, not because police were using one of the homes as part of their sting operation.
York was booked into county jail on two charges: one count of engaging in prostitution and one count of possessing criminal tools. He was initially released on $5,000 bond.
On Monday, York pled no contest to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct and also pled no contest to one count of possessing criminal tools, according to Columbiana County Municipal Court records. He was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for time served, and ordered to pay $1,150 in fines.
A court filing also shows that York’s attorney stated he completed an online course as part of the resolution.
“As this is a legal matter,” the team said of York’s arrest in a statement late Monday morning, “which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time.”
The NFL added through a spokesperson that it is “aware of the matter” and it “will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy.”
York, who is from Youngstown, Ohio, took over as CEO of the 49ers in 2008 and became the team’s principal owner in 2024 when he bought out enough shares from his mother, Denise DeBartolo. He is the son of DeBartolo and John York. The York family assumed control of the franchise in March 2000 after Denise’s brother, Eddie DeBartolo Jr., was forced to cede control due to his own legal troubles involving a corruption scandal with Louisiana riverboat casinos.
York has been married to Danielle Belluomini for over a decade, and the couple share two sons together.
In the viral moment that preceded the plea deal, York — whose family is worth an estimated $8.5 billion — had traveled to a trailer park in rural Ohio attempting to pay what court documents described as just $140 for sex, a sum that drew widespread attention given his vast wealth and prominent position in professional sports.
The 49ers played an exhibition contest against the Chargers in Los Angeles on Aug. 20 and will wrap up their preseason with a game against the Raiders in Las Vegas.
