Why Jennifer Aniston Isn’t Hiding Her Romance With Hypnotherapist Jim Curtis Even Though Insiders Say She Won’t Marry Him

Jennifer Aniston, 57, is stepping into the spotlight with boyfriend Jim Curtis in a way she never has before.

The “Friends” star will interview Curtis at The 92nd Street Y in Manhattan on Wednesday for “An Evening with Jim Curtis,” an event celebrating the hypnotherapist’s new book, “The Book of Possibility.” Tickets sold out immediately, sources said.

Curtis, a divorced father of one, has been dating the twice-wed actress for more than a year. The couple were first seen cuddling at a hotel in Big Sur, California, in July 2025. This marks Aniston’s first long-term relationship since her 2018 divorce from Justin Theroux, 55, after three years of marriage. She was previously married to Brad Pitt from 2000 until 2005.

On the “Today” show, Curtis told Craig Melvin that their relationship started through mutual friends. “We were just introduced by friends … we found out we had mutual friends and we started to just chat and it took a long time,” he said.

Melvin noted that Curtis was smiling and “kind of blushing” while discussing Aniston. Curtis laughed and responded, “Yeah, I sure am.”

The relationship has propelled Curtis into Aniston’s elite Hollywood circle. In July, he joined her, Courteney Cox, Jason Bateman, and Pedro Pascal on a luxury yacht trip off Mallorca, Spain. This week, he dined with Aniston, Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Bateman and his wife Amanda Anka, and Will Arnett at Tower Bar at Hollywood’s Sunset Tower hotel, Aniston’s favorite Los Angeles spot.

Despite his newfound fame, insiders say Curtis remains grounded. “He doesn’t play games, doesn’t do hard-to-get, doesn’t try to make himself seem bigger by expecting [Aniston] to shrink herself,” a source shared. “He is in no way threatened by her fame and has no illusions that he’s the one who needs to join her world, not expect her to change to suit him. He loves her for exactly who she is.”

The source added that Curtis “has zero hesitation about letting her know that he is crazy about her and is totally devoted.”

Aniston herself has publicly praised Curtis. At Elle’s 2025 Women in Hollywood honors last November, she called him “quite extraordinary.”

“Hypnotism is one of the many things that he does,” she said. “He’s quite extraordinary, and helps many, many people. He’s very special, very normal, and very kind and wants to help people heal, move through their trauma and stagnation into clarity.”

She continued, “It’s a beautiful thing to commit your life to.”

Curtis’s own journey informs his work. He uses a cane and walks with a limp due to a severe, undiagnosed spinal condition he developed at age 22, which caused lesions on his spinal cord, chronic nerve damage, muscle spasms, and near-paralysis. On “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in June, he explained how hypnosis helped him manage chronic pain.

“Transformation work really is changing your beliefs so you can change your reality,” Curtis said. “You saw me walk out there [on stage]. Just a few years ago I wouldn’t have walked out because I had shame and fear around what I would look like, around my own disability.”

He added, “And then when I changed my beliefs, when I started to love myself, when I started to see it as a super power — look what’s possible, I’m here today.”

This positive approach has resonated with Aniston, who in November 2022 told Allure magazine she had no interest in marrying again. “Never say never, but I don’t have any interest,” she said. “I’d love a relationship. Who knows? There are moments I want to just crawl up in a ball and say, ‘I need support.'”

“It would be wonderful to come home and fall into somebody’s arms and say, ‘That was a tough day,'” she added.

That stance remains firm. “Jen also has been clear with Jim that she is never getting married again,” another friend revealed. “She has zero interest in that institution and is never going back. He more than understands and his belief in soul mates and spiritual connections makes him more than amenable to the fact that a piece of paper is unnecessary.”

The relationship works, sources say, because it offers Aniston something new. “This relationship is succeeding on so many levels because it’s got things that Jen’s never had before,” a source explained. “She doesn’t feel like she has to work to impress him or keep him [like she did with Theroux]. She doesn’t feel like she has to compete with other, more famous women who are after him.”

Pitt famously left Aniston for Angelina Jolie, his “Mr. And Mrs. Smith” co-star.

Aniston recently completed filming the fifth and final season of Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show,” due next year.
