Hilaria Baldwin’s Unexpected Secret to Staying Fit With 7 Kids Is Stop and Drop

Hilaria Baldwin says her fitness secret is the “stop-and-drop” workout.

The 42-year-old yoga instructor and mother of seven, currently appearing on FOX’s “Nation’s Dumbest,” detailed her unconventional exercise habits in a recent interview. Baldwin explained that with her crowded household, dedicated gym time is a luxury she often cannot afford.

“I run every day. … I found being a mom, if I can get 30 minutes of my cardio, it helps my mind. … It gets me, like, sort of a little bit more regulated with my nervous system, so I really like that,” she shared.

Baldwin’s regimen extends well beyond running. She incorporates yoga and what she calls “little bathroom workouts” into her daily routine, squeezing in movement wherever her children allow.

“Then I obviously do my yoga, my little bathroom workouts or just like a stop-and-drop little workout. I love Physique 57. Any kind of barre classes I think are really great,” she continued.

Last month, Baldwin demonstrated exactly what those bathroom sessions entail, posting a clip of herself performing glute exercises in a bikini while standing in a bathroom.

Despite her disciplined approach to fitness, Baldwin pushed back against assumptions that she survives on minimal calories. She said that her diet varies considerably from day to day.

“I think people think that I just eat salad all the time, which I’ve definitely done that in the past. But the other day — the baby of the family, we opened up pints of ice cream, two different pints of ice cream at 9 p.m. So, sometimes it looks like that,” she said.

“Eat good things and then enjoy. Have the slice of pizza once in a while. Have the ice cream. I think it’s just a bit of a balance.”

When asked whether husband Alec Baldwin, 67, ever participates in her workouts, she laughed and noted his physical limitations.

“Can’t touch his toes. I literally married the most inflexible person I have ever met,” she said.

The couple, who met in February 2011, have built a family of seven children together: daughters Carmen, María and Ilaria, and sons Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo and Eduardo. Alec also has an older daughter, Ireland Baldwin, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

Baldwin offered straightforward advice for maintaining a long-term partnership through public scrutiny and private challenges.

“Oh, it’s been more than 15 years. We met February 2011. You both have to want to be there,” she said.

“Whenever my friends are coming to me, and they’re, like, it’s a new relationship, or they’re having a bump in it, I say, ‘If both people don’t really want to be there through your difficult moments, through your best moments, then it’s just not going to probably work out,'” she explained.

“Both Alec and I, through our ups and our downs and our sideways, we’ve wanted to be there. And I think that that’s what’s kept us strong.”

Baldwin appears alongside Carmen Electra, Anthony Michael Hall, Ice-T, Elle King, Matt Leinart, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Steve-O, JoJo Siwa, Andrew Yang, Jon Heder and Chase Hudson on “Nation’s Dumbest,” a FOX competition series that inverts the typical celebrity contest format by having participants compete to avoid being labeled the least intelligent.

“Nation’s Dumbest” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
