Aaron Rodgers is hoping to be “supporting my pregnant wife” by this time next year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, 42, told Sirius XM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio in a preview clip set to air Tuesday that he wants to start a family immediately after his planned 2026 retirement. “I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements,” Rodgers said to host Adam Schein.
Rodgers, who confirmed in May that this NFL season would be his final one, added that he’s “looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting [his] body healed up and working on a family.” The veteran signal-caller told Schein he’s “definitely excited” about the possibility of starting a family.
“The more I’m around them, the more I get excited and so does the wife about having some of our own,” Rodgers shared, referencing his time as “Uncle Aaron” to his brother’s children. “I can’t wait for that next chapter of life and all that that entails, and sleepless nights and crying babies and changing diapers and all those things. I’m looking forward to all of it.”
The quarterback’s family plans follow a period of significant personal change. Rodgers revealed in June 2025 that he had secretly married a woman known publicly as Brittani, saying only that they had wed “a couple months ago.” He has fiercely guarded her privacy, slamming what he called “sick society” for stalking her.
“Because I do things in private because I want my personal life to be private, now I’m weird and now the paparazzi is stalking me … trying to get a picture of her,” he ranted on the “Pat McAfee Show” that same month.
Rodgers later gushed about his spouse to NFL Network at Steelers training camp last July. “When you meet the right one and you’re with the right one, your whole world changes in a second,” he said. “And to have that person that unconditionally loves you behind the scenes, there’s no better feeling in the world and I have the most incredible wife.”
That relationship has also helped heal a years-long family rift. After reuniting with his relatives this July, Rodgers credited Brittani with opening the door to reconciliation.
“You know, a big part of it was getting married, and having those conversations with my wife that allowed me to kind of open up to the possibility of coming together,” he told NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt last month.
Rodgers confirmed his broader fatherhood ambitions in another statement earlier this week, saying, “My next chapter in my life is fatherhood. We are not expecting yet, but I cannot wait to be a father.”
The four-time MVP’s farewell tour began with his May press declaration that “Yes, this is it,” ending a career that has spanned two decades with the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, and now Pittsburgh. Rodgers is scheduled to appear on Mad Dog Sports Radio Tuesday.
