Rebekah Cabral-Gonzalez, 21, has been identified as one of four people killed in a predawn single-car crash on a mountain highway in Wrightwood, California.
The psychology student died alongside Jason Potter, 19, Nevaeh Harper, 20, and a fourth passenger whose name authorities have not yet released, according to officials. All four were pronounced dead after their 2016 Hyundai Veloster left Highway 2 and slammed into a utility pole around 1:30 am last Friday.
California Highway Patrol investigators determined that none of the six occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of impact. The force of the collision ejected five of them from the hatchback, leaving a devastating scene on the scenic mountain road.
Two survivors, also Wrightwood residents, were rushed to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in critical condition. They remained there receiving care as of the initial reports.

Cabral-Gonzalez’s social media presence painted a picture of a young woman drawn to helping others. She listed herself as a certified ski instructor and an Applied Behavior Analysis technician, and her profiles indicated she had been studying psychology at the University of Arizona.
Friends flooded online platforms with grief after learning of her death. One mourner took to Instagram to honor the 21-year-old in emotional terms.
“I really wish [R]ebeka, the most kind and generous soul I have ever encountered and will ever encounter, can rest in peace,” the friend wrote. “She was such an incredible voice for the unvoiced and a beautiful soul that could never be replaced…you of all people deserved to be here right now.”
Johnny Stull, a Wrightwood resident who spoke with KTLA, described the victims as familiar faces around town who gravitated toward the local skate park. His voice carried the weight of a small community processing sudden, concentrated loss.
“They just wanted to cruise up the highway, go look at the stars,” Stull said. “And they’re dead now.”
The blunt finality of his words captured what officials and residents alike were confronting: a routine late-night drive among young friends had turned catastrophic on a road they likely knew well.
