Charles Dion McDowell, the Florida man whose unusually wide neck turned his 2018 mugshot into a global meme, has been arrested again on felony charges in Georgia.
McDowell, 35, was taken into custody in Cherokee County on charges including stalking, according to jail records and multiple reports from last week. The arrest marks at least the fourth major legal encounter for the Pensacola native since his initial booking at Escambia County Jail in Florida eight years ago made him an overnight internet curiosity.
His 2018 arrest stemmed from a police chase and included charges of fleeing police, meth possession, cocaine possession, marijuana possession, and possession of drug equipment. After posting a $57,000 bond, he was released — only to allegedly lead Alabama police on a second high-speed chase just two days later. That incident brought additional charges of eluding police, second-degree marijuana possession, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, and improper lane usage.
Despite this pattern, McDowell briefly converted his notoriety into entertainment industry access. In 2019, he collaborated with David Samuelson Jr., the rapper known as “Daddy Long Neck,” on a music video for their song “Neckst Big Thing.” The YouTube clip, which paired McDowell’s distinctive physique with Samuelson Jr.’s elongated counterpart, has accumulated six million views.
That same year, McDowell spoke about the physical feature that defined his public identity. He addressed speculation that his neck resulted from a medical condition.
“It ain’t not medical condition. It was just my neck. I can’t figure it out.”
“I ain’t gone to the doctor’s or nothing for it. I honestly don’t know.”
He noted that his neck had not been unusually large during childhood, explaining that he simply “grew into it,” He added that the trait ran in his family to a lesser degree: “My granddad’s got a wide neck but his neck ain’t like mine.”
McDowell maintained a significant social media presence, with his Instagram account currently showing over 860,000 followers. His profile biography states “I ain’t ever going back to that life” — a declaration that has repeatedly contrasted with his documented legal troubles.
The gap between that online persona and his offline behavior widened substantially in August 2022, when police issued a warrant for his arrest after he allegedly appeared uninvited at a woman’s residence and sent her threatening messages. The situation escalated dramatically by 2025, when McDowell faced multiple felony counts including furnishing obscene material to a minor. Prosecutors accused McDowell of using a phone and laptop to distribute sexually explicit videos of a woman to several recipients on multiple occasions. The reported recipients included the woman’s 13-year-old son, 16-year-old daughter, mother, and another unidentified individual.
Current jail records show McDowell faces numerous charges: five counts of electronic transmission or posting of video or photo of nudity without consent, four counts of electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor, and harassing phone calls. He was reported to be held without bond in Cherokee County Jail.
The trajectory from viral mugshot to recurring defendant places McDowell in sharp contrast with Jeremy Meeks, the California man whose 2014 “hot felon” booking photo launched a modeling career that reportedly helped him establish a law-abiding professional life. McDowell’s path, by comparison, has seen him cycle through jurisdictions and charges while his social media following persists.
